Rapid Prototyping Full-Service Manufacturing Sheet, Plate, and Tube Fabrication

Before You Upload

What to include so we can quote accurately

A complete RFQ helps the 3DWK team match your part to the right process. Use the checklist below; you can still submit with the files you have and add details later by email.

01

CAD and drawings

STEP or STP is preferred for 3D geometry. IGES, SLDPRT, X_T, and STL (for 3D printing) are also common. Add a PDF drawing for tolerances, threads, finishes, and datums. Archive files (ZIP or RAR) are accepted; the default upload limit is 25MB.

02

Quantity, material, and finish

State the quantity for this order and any future volumes if known. Name the material grade when you can (for example 6061 aluminum or stainless 316). List finishes such as anodizing, powder coating, or passivation. See the materials library and finishes guide.

03

Tolerances and inspection

Call out critical dimensions, fits, and surface requirements on the drawing or in the project notes. If you need inspection reports or material certificates, say so in the RFQ so they can be included in the quote. See Quality & Inspection.

04

Timing and delivery

Pick a target lead-time window on the form and note the delivery location in the project notes when it matters. Shipping method and cost are confirmed on your quote. See shipping information.

After You Submit

How your RFQ is handled

No account is required to submit. Pricing is prepared by our team after reviewing your files—it is not an automated instant price. The path from file to parts is described on How It Works.

1

Engineering review

We check process fit, manufacturability, material availability, tolerances, and finishing, and raise questions or DFM suggestions when needed.

2

Quote by email

We prepare a quote for your actual part and process and follow up directly by email to the address you provided.

3

Approve and produce

Confirm the quote, revision, and any inspection or documentation requirements. Manufacturing is coordinated through the 3DWK partner network; parts are checked against the agreed requirements before shipment.

For revisions and same-supplier reorders after a first job, see repeat orders.

Confidentiality

How your files are used

CAD files and drawings submitted for a quote are used to review and manufacture your project and are shared only with partners involved in that work. You can read the general description on Confidentiality & NDA and request an NDA before sharing files when your program requires one. Also see our privacy policy.

FAQ

Common questions about quoting

Short answers from our FAQ. Contact sales@3dwk.com or +1 (332) 322-6825 if you need help before uploading.

Is pricing instant?

Quotes are prepared by our team after reviewing your files and requirements, so they reflect your actual part and process.

Do I need an account?

No. You can submit an RFQ without an account. Registering lets you view your requests from your account page.

Which file formats do you accept?

STEP/STP is preferred for 3D geometry. IGES, SLDPRT, X_T, and STL (for 3D printing) are also common. Add PDF drawings for tolerances, threads, and finishes.

Can I get inspection reports or material certificates?

Yes, on request. Include the requirement in your RFQ so it is part of the quote. See Quality & Inspection.

Are my files kept confidential?

Files are used to quote and manufacture your project and are shared only with partners involved in it. See our privacy policy and NDA page.
