Quality
Quality & Inspection
Quality starts with clear requirements. Here is how 3DWK reviews projects, controls revisions, and checks parts against the requirements agreed on your quote.
Our Approach
Quality built into the workflow
Requirement review
Drawings, tolerances, materials, finishes, and documentation needs are reviewed before quoting.
Partner matching
Projects are matched to partners whose equipment and experience fit the process, material, and tolerance.
Revision control
The quoted file and drawing revision are the reference for manufacturing and inspection.
In-process communication
Questions about features or specifications are raised with you instead of assumed.
Final inspection
Parts are checked against the agreed critical dimensions and visual requirements.
Records
Requested inspection and project records ship with the parts.
Documentation
Inspection and documentation available on request
| Item | Description | How to request |
|---|---|---|
| Dimensional inspection report | Measured results for critical dimensions | Mark critical features on your drawing and request in RFQ |
| First article inspection (FAI) | Full check of a first part before or with production | Request in RFQ; scope agreed on quote |
| CMM report | Coordinate measuring machine results where geometry requires it | Request in RFQ |
| Material certificate | Mill or material certificate for the supplied stock | Request in RFQ |
| Finish / plating certificate | Process certificate from the finishing source | Request in RFQ |
| Certificate of conformance | Statement that parts conform to the order | Request in RFQ |
Availability and cost depend on the project and are confirmed on the quote.
Standards
Default workmanship expectations
Edges
Sharp edges are broken and deburred unless your drawing specifies otherwise.
Tolerances
Your drawing governs. Tolerances not shown on a drawing are confirmed with you during review.
Cosmetics
Cosmetic surfaces should be identified on the drawing with any reference samples.
Cleanliness
Parts are cleaned of chips and cutting fluid before packing.
Have Quality Requirements?
Include them with your RFQ.
Inspection levels, certificates, and special requirements are easiest to plan before quoting.
