Bead Blasting and Media Blasting

Bead blasting propels fine media, typically glass beads, at a part surface to create a uniform matte or satin texture. It hides light machining marks, cleans the surface, and is often used before anodizing or coating for a consistent appearance.

Design Tips

What to specify on your drawing

Masking

Mask sealing faces, precision bores, and threads that must not be textured.

Clear plastics

Blasting frosts transparent plastics; avoid on optical surfaces.

Cosmetic reference

Provide a sample photo or reference part for appearance-critical work.

Not a deburr substitute

Blasting softens appearance but does not replace deburring of sharp edges.
