Surface Finishing

Powder Coating for Metal Parts

Powder coating applies a dry, electrostatically charged polymer powder that is heat cured into a continuous, durable film. It gives metal parts a tough colored finish with good corrosion and impact resistance and a wide range of colors and textures.

Design Tips

What to specify on your drawing

Pre-treatment

Cleaning, conversion coating, or blasting before coating strongly affects adhesion and corrosion life.

Masking

Threads, bores, and grounding points are usually masked or plugged.

Edges and recesses

Sharp edges thin out and deep internal corners can be hard to coat (Faraday cage effect).

Color

Specify a RAL number or provide a physical sample for color approval.
