Aluminum Alloy
7075 is a zinc-alloyed, high-strength aluminum used where strength-to-weight matters more than weldability. In T6/T651 temper its strength approaches many mild steels at roughly one third of the density. Request a quote or browse all materials.
Typical Properties
| Property | Typical value |
|---|---|
| Density | 2.81 g/cm³ (0.102 lb/in³) |
| Ultimate tensile strength | 572 MPa (83 ksi) |
| Yield strength (0.2%) | 503 MPa (73 ksi) |
| Elongation at break | 11% |
| Hardness | 150 HB |
| Elastic modulus | 71.7 GPa (10,400 ksi) |
| Thermal conductivity | 130 W/m·K |
| Melting range | 477–635 °C |
Values are typical for T6/T651. Overaged tempers such as T73 trade some strength for better stress-corrosion cracking resistance. These are typical reference values from standard published data, not guaranteed minimums. Request material certificates in your RFQ if properties must be verified.
Advantages
Among the strongest commonly machined aluminum alloys.
Good fatigue strength for structural and dynamic parts.
Machines well and holds tight tolerances; chips break readily.
Accepts Type II and Type III anodizing.
Design considerations: Generally not recommended for fusion welding; lower general corrosion resistance than 6061; higher material cost; anodized color can look slightly different from 6061.
